Anderselite are currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor, on behalf of a tier one contractor, to join their expanding team in Coventry. This role is upon a major utility lighting project and there will be a requirement to travel to Northampton every so often.

Purpose:

Experience and understanding of the cost base relating to Street Lighting or Utility projects. Supporting other more senior members of the commercial team in delivering the varied commercial duties as well as being responsible for procuring and managing our supply chain.
Actively seek to minimise the costs of a project and enhance value for money, while still achieving the required standards and quality for our Customers.
Manage and co-ordinate all estimating aspects of a bid, ensuring that high quality, competitive proposals are delivered to the customer in a manner consistent with the clients management system.
Have a strong understanding of contract terms and conditions mainly NEC3/4 and be able to effectively communicate the Terms and Conditions of new contract enquiries and bid conditions to the management team and contract leads.



What youll be doing
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will have the following accountabilities:

Build up estimates from first principle including net and gross estimates
Translate measurement from drawings and Specifications and prepare Bills of Quantities and Schedules of rates
Review customer’s drawings and specifications to prepare accurate costing sheets for materials, labour and equipment
Assess and manage risk and opportunity and support negotiations as part of the pricing process
Agree with engineering and planning key methods, outputs and plant selection
Manage and coordinate the preparation of preliminary and general expense pricing including plant schedules and risk assessment
Prepare tender settlement papers and carry out any belated adjustments as a result of tender settlements
Provide bills of allowances as part of the commercial handover meeting
Responsibility for ‘sign off’ of all cost elements prior to any gate meetings or financial submissions
Ensure that key specialists are utilised on each bid to optimise: design, specification, programme and value
Manage the production of cost information for senior management
Review weekly, monthly, section programmes of works
Plan commercial activities to meet requirements of section programmes
Collect information required to specify procurement requirements


Who were looking for
You will have the following:

BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or experience equivalent
Achievement Focus (Achieving Results)
Previous Commercial Work experience
Industry knowledge
Good working knowledge of pricing and quantification methods is required.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required, coupled with an ability to form effective relationships with partners under time pressure.
A desire to continuously pursue innovation and development, with a focus on the customer and the business is required.
Proficiency in IT, numeracy and MS Office Basic & Estimating Systems is essential.
