Job Title: Environmental Monitoring Engineer

Location: HPC Bridgewater


Role Overview:

The Environmental Monitoring Engineer will serve as the expert for site-wide environmental monitoring. Supporting installation and site-wide team. This role involves capturing client requirements, determining environmental parameters, conducting surveys, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations to protect personnel and high-value assets.

Key Responsibilities:

Requirement Capture:

Gather and interpret requirements from the client and MEHA installation team to safeguard workforce and assets.
Identify and maintain essential environmental parameters.

Environmental Surveys and Assessments:

Conduct regular environmental surveys and assessments of buildings and areas.
Review assessments to ensure protection of personnel and assets.

Regulatory Compliance:

Evaluate site compliance with environmental regulations.
Liaise with the occupational health team when necessary.

Technical Solutions:

Design, develop, test, and implement technical solutions such as dataloggers for active environment monitoring.
Aim to reduce the environmental impact and protect personnel and assets.

Data Gathering and Evaluation:

Collect data from various sources including dataloggers, site assessments, and third-party reports.
Analyse data to assess the environmental impact of projects or operations.

Key Deliverables:

Risk Assessments:

Plan and prepare necessary risk assessments for the MEHA installation team.
Maintain a planning schedule and provide weekly progress reports.

Datalogger Installation:

Design and organise the installation of dataloggers and remote monitoring infrastructure.
Ensure proper installation to meet site and regulatory requirements.

Training and Support:

Provide training to site area users on environmental monitoring systems.
Manage service calls, fault findings, and issue resolution.

Compliance and Coordination:

Sign off compliance certificates as needed.
Coordinate with suppliers to ensure adequate resources on-site.
Participate in and support audits, updating tests when required.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

Minimum of two years’ experience in environmental monitoring in construction, manufacturing, or warehouse settings.
Understanding of digital network integration.
Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
Strong organisational and time management skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Proficiency in IT and MS Office software.
SMSTS site safety training or CCNSG Safety Passport.

Preferred:

Experience with CAD/3D models.
Awareness of UK nuclear site licence conditions.
Construction site work experience.
Awareness of UK electrical safety regulations and electronics.



The role involves the planning, survey, installation, and commissioning of environmental monitoring units (dataloggers) across the entire nuclear island, conventional island, balance of plant, and site-wide compounds. This scope requires interfacing with all area/building installation teams to ensure consistent delivery of tasks.

Additional Responsibilities:

Risk Assessment and Planning: Support the planning, design, installation, and commissioning of environmental monitoring units.
Monitoring and Reporting: Install dataloggers to meet site and regulatory requirements, maintain asset registers, and record progress.
Training and Support: Train personnel, resolve datalogger issues, maintain records, and support audits.
