Job Title: Technical Assistant
Reports to: Engineering Manager
Department: Engineering
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £25-33K + package
Experience required: previous knowledge of the construction industry & must have worked a technical role with engineers.
Must have UK experience.


The client we are working on behalf on are involved in engineering and project management, particularly within the water/wastewater industry or other relevant sectors.

Purpose:
The Technical Assistant is responsible for supporting the engineering teams (process, mechanical, and electrical/systems) in the administration of project-related designs, drawings, and documentation. This role also supports the Document Controller in processing internal and external documentation through the document management system to Client organizations and suppliers.


Main Duties & Responsibilities:

Preparing and formatting internal template documentation.
Administration of Client and Supplier correspondence (emails, etc.).
Administrative support (electronic filing, copying, printing, minutes of meetings, arranging meetings, etc.).
Engineering Procurement support:
Populate outline information within the procurement requisition system.
Check status of requisition approvals.
Engineering Document Management System Administration (EPDM):
Receipt all project-related information received from suppliers into EPDM.
Receipt all project-related information received from the Client into EPDM.
Distribute all project-related information received from suppliers to the relevant engineering team(s).
Manage document version control within EPDM.
Transmit all project-related information to suppliers and the Client via EPDM.
Expediting responses from client/supplier document transmittals.
Distribute document log (received/outstanding) to the relevant engineering team(s).
Preparation and compiling project-related document packs and transmittals.
Engineering Document support:
Log design information.
Maintain document control logs.
Assist Engineering Manager with design approvals and technical standards review, including maintenance of quality and project documentation.
Maintain up-to-date master office copies and drawing logs.
Drawing, printing, and preparation of document submission packs for review by Engineering Manager.
Office administration.
Assist Engineering Manager to organize/develop databases.
Liaison with internal and external stakeholders.
Assist with new starter inductions on Technical and Document control processes and systems as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

Criteria Requirement Essential/Desirable

Qualifications/Skills: GSCE Grade 5 (C) or above in English and Maths or equivalent qualifications. Essential
Knowledge and experience:
Experience in the same or similar role, preferably within the water/wastewater industry or other relevant sector. Essential
Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team in a busy office environment. Essential
Ability to use a wide range of IT packages including Microsoft Office. Essential

Well-developed organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize to meet deadlines. Essential
