Site Supervisor – Leeds/Darlington  

I am currently seeking an experienced Site Supervisor / Site Foremen on behalf of my client, a leading civil engineering organisation delivering safe, sustainable, and efficient transport solutions across the UK. Due to the success of our client’s Highways Schemes, they are expanding their portfolio of work in the North East region. As a Site Supervisor working on the National Highway SDF Framework and Yorcivils, Frameworks, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth execution of these projects. You will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. The position will cover North East (Leeds/Darlington) region. Due to the large region,  willingness to travel or lodge away is required. Night shifts may also be necessary depending on the scheme.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality projects.
  • Actively engage with customers throughout the project, addressing feedback promptly.
  • Promote the client’s culture and values, fostering a professional and quality-driven environment.
  • Lead by example, upholding the client’s values in interactions with the team, suppliers, and customers.
  • Create a unified and positive team environment, prioritizing team development.
  • Supervise and manage contracts according to agreed timelines.
  • Lead by example, promoting a positive attitude, adherence to safety protocols, and effective communication.
  • Support and empower the site team to align with the client’s vision and safety culture.
  • Encourage continuous learning and growth within the team.
  • Ensure compliance with the client’s systems, legislative requirements, and company policies.
  • Implement and maintain efficient processes, including timely reporting to senior management.
  • Emphasize value-added processes, efficient risk management, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and manage team performance to maximize profitability.
  • Collaborate with the site manager to achieve profitable outcomes within agreed targets.
  • Efficiently manage project activities, adhering to NEC contract requirements.
  • Promote community relations and engagement, manage defect clearance, and implement lessons learned for continuous improvement.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Background in Civil, Structural, or Construction Management on National Highways networks.
  • Experience with a tier 1 contracting group preferred, with working knowledge of NEC contract conditions, CDM regulations, design management, and programming.
  • Ability to lead a team of direct reports and assist in their development.
  • Experience in groundworks, RC structures, steelwork, and building disciplines with a clear understanding in these areas.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and demonstrate technical knowledge.
  • CSCS card
  • IOSH Managing Safely or SMSTS
