Join one of the UK's most successful and progressive construction businesses as a Site Manager, responsible for managing a team of site erection operatives over multiple sites. You will need a strong background in steel erection, preferably as an apprentice-trained Steel Erector with a minimum of five years post-training experience. You will need to have a formal Health and Safety qualification such as SMSTS or NEBOSH, as well as experience in managing a team of operatives.

In this role, you will need to have excellent organisational and managerial skills, as well as the ability to read drawings with knowledge of detailing practice including weld symbols, scales, bolt symbols, standard abbreviations, etc. You will need to be able to negotiate with supply chains and sublet erection packages with our QA approved supply chain. You will also need to have experience working within a fully audited Quality Assurance system in accordance with BS9001.

As a Site Manager, you will need to be able to carry out regular toolbox talks and liaise with senior engineering staff on a regular basis to agree programmes/priorities for multiple contracts. You will need to be able to maintain regular contact with site operatives to ensure that the workforce is motivated. In addition, you will be responsible for managing the maintenance of site lifting equipment, including keeping detailed records of testing/servicing to meet the requirements of LOLER, and the maintenance/replacement of general site equipment, including welding plant, drills, grinders and consumables, etc.

To be considered for this role, you will need to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be able to work autonomously, and have a well-organised and regimented working style. You will also need to be able to recognise changes in circumstances promptly and adjust plans and activities accordingly. A basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software packages and Microsoft Project is required, as well as a valid IPAF or CPCS MEWP License for categories 3a and 3b as a minimum.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your leadership, commitment, and accountability for the effective application of company standards. You will also be able to establish a team-based work environment that recognises and utilises the contribution of all work team members. You will be able to recognise when there are conflicts, acknowledge the feelings and views of all parties, and redirect people’s energy towards a common goal. You will also be able to make the best use of available resources and seek new sources of support when necessary.

This is an exciting opportunity to work for a company that is committed to delivering high-quality projects and developing its employees.
