Site Engineer – Yorkshire  

My client is looking to appoint a Site Engineer to their growing Civils Department. This is a great opportunity to join an established Tier 1 company who do a great deal of work on the Yorkshire Water Framework.

The Site Engineer will play a pivotal role in the successful execution of construction projects. Reporting to the Site Agent, this position is responsible for survey control, setting out works as per contract drawings, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency are maintained throughout the project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance to subcontractors, craftspeople, and operatives on the construction site.
  • Manage and oversee various aspects of construction projects, ensuring work quality and adherence to plans.
  • Perform site surveying, setting out, and levelling activities.
  • Collaborate with the Site Agent to produce a 2-week look-ahead plan.
  • Maintain detailed site diaries and allocation sheets.
  • Verify the accuracy of plans, drawings, and quantities for calculations.
  • Supervise site security and enforce health and safety protocols.
  • Efficiently manage material and human resources on-site.
  • Coordinate and manage design documents supplied by the client.
  • Liaise with local authorities to ensure compliance with construction regulations and by-laws.
  • Regularly report project progress and updates to clients.
  • Plan work efficiently and adapt to setbacks or unexpected difficulties.
  • Resolve technical issues and other problems as they arise.
  • Ensure defect and snag-free project delivery.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration with clients and project delivery teams.
  • Comply with the governance standards set out by the Joint Venture.
  • Work closely with the Joint Venture and client audit team to ensure documentation availability for audits.
  • Demonstrate compliance to maintain scores in the upper quartile.
  • Accurate and timely setting out of works.
  • Timely handover of works and quality records without outstanding defects.
  • Production of accurate records, drawing registers, and weekly diaries.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in civil engineering or HNC or equivalent in civil engineering as a minimum.
  • CSCS Card.
  • Cable avoidance training.
  • NEBOSH or IOSH.
