We have a position at one of the UK's most successful and progressive construction businesses as a Setting Out Engineer. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that all setting out information is accurate and correct, establishing primary controls and stations, and developing deliverable setting out information on site. With your expertise, you will ensure that setting out is done in a timely manner and to the highest possible standard, reducing issues and inconsistencies. You will also monitor and control all setting out and recheck, and provide technical advice and assistance to site operatives when needed.

To be successful in this role, you will need proven experience as a site setting out engineer, having worked on both civil and build projects. You will also need a surveying or engineering background, and proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Leica total stations or Topcon Robotic (1 man kit), GNSS equipment, and leveling equipment. Holding a CSCS card, First Aider certification, and a full UK driving license is also a must.

Academic and professional experience is also valued, with a degree in a construction-related field and experience as a Setting Out Engineer on commercial and industrial projects or civils and public sector projects being desirable. Knowledge of the construction industry and understanding of construction terms, scheduling, and planning concepts are also essential, as is knowledge of health and safety and environmental issues.

As a people-focused company, we need someone who can motivate others, provide leadership and management skills, and excel at team working and communication. Personal qualities such as self-awareness, relationship focus, delivering objectives, and managing others are also crucial to the role. You will need to demonstrate leadership, commitment, and accountability for the effective application of company standards, communicate company standards to staff and stakeholders, and involve employees and other stakeholders in safety, health, and environmental performance improvement planning.
