Senior Quantity Surveyor - Civil Engineering Contractor - 07980 006 436
The client
My client, an award winning national contractor are currently looking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team. This business has a strong track record within the delivery of major infrastructure projects up to the value of £20m. They are regarded as true specialist within civil engineering, demolition, enabling works, infrastructure, basements and substructures, hard and soft landscaping and external works.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Senior Quantity Surveyor heads the Commercial team on appointed projects and will:
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of project(s) contractual and commercial requirements
Demonstrate a thorough understanding and competent execution of the monthly reconciled values and updated forecasts
Performing Value management and cost control.
Prepare accurate draft sub-contracts and/or to approve such drafts as prepared by subordinates to the level of responsibility delegated by the individuals supervisors.
Arranging payments and valuing completed work.
Demonstrate confidence and expertise, with minimal input from the Commercial Manager/Commercial Director, in dispute resolution and risk & opportunities profiling
Promote and maintain strong relationships with clients to agree valuations and complex variations
Form productive relationships with management teams as well as the client’s management,
Research and review market information to increase commercial opportunity and success on the project(s)Demonstrate inspirational leadership of the Commercial team including mentoring and assisting with development and training
Candidate requirements
It is essential that you have a background in engineering contracts and strong negotiation and communication skills,
All applicants must be able to work well under pressure / to tight deadlines and you should have an excellent understanding of NEC3 / NEC4 forms of contract
In depth knowledge or different kinds of civil engineering projects such as roads, groundworks, earthworks, bridges, paving, drainage etc and a strong technical knowledge of the civil engineering / construction industry.
