Job Description: Senior Quantity Surveyor

Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: South East England, Hampshire, Winchester

Job Type: Permanent, expected to work Full-Time hours

Primary Industry: Construction, Infrastrucutre

Secondary Industry: Engineering

Salary: £65,000.00 - £75,000.00 per annum

Job Duties:

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates and budgets for construction projects
  • Conduct detailed analysis of project specifications, drawings, and tender documents
  • Manage the procurement process, including sourcing and evaluating subcontractors and suppliers
  • Prepare and review contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor project progress and financial performance, identifying and addressing any deviations
  • Carry out regular site visits to assess work progress and quality
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop cost-effective solutions and value engineering options
  • Provide advice and guidance on cost control, risk management, and contract administration
  • Prepare and present reports to clients, stakeholders, and senior management
  • Supervise and mentor junior surveyors, providing guidance and support as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field
  • Professional membership with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience working as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry
  • Proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Thorough understanding of construction contracts, cost control, and project management principles
  • Proficiency in using industry-standard quantity surveying software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field
  • Additional professional certifications or qualifications

Working Conditions:

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will primarily work in an office environment but will also be required to visit construction sites. The role may involve occasional travel to meet with clients and attend meetings. The candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
