Senior Quantity Surveyor

Job Description

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team based in the East of England, specifically Peterborough. This is a permanent position, and the successful candidate will be expected to work full-time hours.

Primary Industry: Construction

Secondary Industry: Environmental and Waste

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in our construction projects, ensuring accurate cost control and effective management of resources. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of duties, including but not limited to:

Job Duties:

  • Preparing cost estimates and budgets for construction projects
  • Conducting feasibility studies and risk assessments
  • Advising on procurement strategies and contract terms
  • Managing contracts and subcontractors
  • Monitoring project progress and ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets
  • Performing cost analysis and value engineering
  • Preparing and submitting progress reports to clients and stakeholders
  • Handling variations and claims
  • Providing expert advice on cost-saving measures and cost control
  • Maintaining accurate project documentation and records

Required Qualifications:

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field
  • Professional membership with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)

Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Quantity Surveyor role
  • Demonstrated expertise in cost estimation, contract management, and project control
  • Proficient in the use of industry-standard software and tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A postgraduate qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field
  • Experience in the environmental and waste management sector
  • Experience with sustainable construction practises

Working Conditions:

This role involves working in an office environment as well as on construction sites. You may be required to travel to various project locations within the East of England. Health and safety measures must be followed at all times. Hybrid working is available.
