Role Purpose:
My client is a multi discipline national contractor. You will be working within the Mechanical and Electrical division. They are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced M&E Quantity Surveyor to join their Manchester team on a large project in Manchester.
Role Responsibility:
As a M&E Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in the effective management and control of costs for this mechanical and electrical (M&E) project .
You will be responsible for assessing project feasibility, estimating costs, managing budgets, conducting cost analysis, and ensuring contractual compliance.
Your expertise in quantity surveying, particularly in the M&E discipline, will contribute to the financial success and timely completion of our projects.
You must have experience in working on projects valued between £30m to £50m M&E.
Conduct thorough cost analysis and estimations for M&E projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
Collaborate with project managers and design teams to provide accurate cost advice and assist in developing cost-effective solutions.
Prepare detailed bills of quantities, tender documents, and procurement strategies for M&E works.
Evaluate and negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and variations with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
Monitor project costs, cash flow, and budgetary control, providing regular reports to project stakeholders.
Perform risk assessments and identify potential cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality standards.
Conduct regular valuations of work in progress and assess the value of completed work for interim and final payments.
Collaborate with the commercial team to manage claims, disputes, and change orders, ensuring proper documentation and resolution.
Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to M&E quantity surveying.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior quantity surveying staff, fostering their professional development.
Skills and Experience:
Extensive experience in M&E quantity surveying within the construction industry, with a proven track record of successfully managing large-scale projects.
Sound knowledge of construction contracts, tendering processes, and procurement strategies.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to conduct accurate cost estimations and financial analysis.
A self-motivated and proactive approach, demonstrating problem-solving abilities.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
Professional memberships or affiliations (e.g., RICS, CIOB) are desirable but not essential.Rates and contract
