Senior Quantity Surveyor - Tier 1 Main Contractor - Edinburgh - 6 months+

Are you a Senior Quantity Surveyor with experience working on Major Build projects? Here at Anderselite, we are recruiting on behalf of a Tier 1 Main Contractor in Edinburgh.
Our client has asked us to identify a Senior Quantity Surveyor who understands the sub-contract procurement process and commercial management.

This role is for 6 months+ working on a £100m+ Commercial / Retail project, with the successful candidate having experience of managing 4 or 5 packages valued between £10-20m. Pay rate would be between £450-500 per day, which would be paid PAYE via Umbrella. This rate is flexible and dependent on level of experience.

Duties include:

• Overseeing cost-analysis and estimating process against an agreed Schedule of Rates.
• Control over all expenditure and to reconcile cost/value reports and profit forecasts.
• To assist the Commercial Manager / Project Manager with pre-start planning and programming.
• Selection of sub-contractors for works including procurement and commercial management.
• Management and control of sub-contract accounts and variation accounts, including processing sub-contractor payment requests.
• Assisting and liaising with the buyers on materials procurement and buying opportunities.
• Develop an understanding of the designated contract, specification and pricing ensuring compliance with conditions throughout.
• Liaise with the Commercial Manager / Project Manager over contractual issues and act as required.
• Measure progress, submit valuations, submit final accounts and retention release and monitor receipt of payment in a timely manner in accordance with the contracts.
• Completing a monthly cost / valuation report and cash flow for the designated projects and attending project and company related meetings.
• Ensure timely cash flow management for the Client, whilst maintaining and developing a professional relationship, to help future business development.

The successful candidate will have:

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, MRICS or equivalent / similar qualification.
• Post graduate experience or time served working in the role, reporting to a Regional Commercial Manager.
• Experience working on Commercial or Mixed Use projects with circa £50m+ in value.
• Excellent verbal communication skills, levels of numeracy and influencing skills.
