Senior Quantity Surveyor - Yorkshire Water Contractor

Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire

We are an external recruitment agency specializing in talent acquisition for leading contractors in the water and wastewater industry. Our client, a reputable Yorkshire Water Contractor based in Leeds, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team.

Role Overview:
As the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the cost control and contract administration aspects of our client's Yorkshire Water projects. Your expertise in quantity surveying, particularly in the water and wastewater sector, will play a crucial role in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities:

Provide comprehensive cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documentation for Yorkshire Water projects.
Prepare and negotiate contract agreements, including variations and claims, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.
Conduct regular assessments of project progress, costs, and variations, and deliver accurate cost and value reports to the commercial team and project management.
Implement and manage effective change control processes, identifying and mitigating commercial risks.
Collaborate with the supply chain to ensure efficient management of sub-contractor costs.
Provide guidance and support to junior members of the commercial team.
Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
Extensive experience (minimum of 7 years) in quantity surveying within the construction industry, with a focus on water and wastewater projects being highly desirable.
Proven track record in managing and delivering cost control and contract administration on large-scale construction projects.
Strong understanding of construction contracts, including NEC and JCT.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, contractors, and sub-contractors.
Meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical abilities.
Ability to thrive under pressure and meet deadlines.
