One of the UK’s leading manufacturers of bespoke off-site building solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team.

Specialising in a variety of sectors such as Commercial, Education, Healthcare, Accommodation and more, this company has a proven track record in delivering innovative building solutions manufactured to the highest standard. With over 50 years’ experience in modular construction, this company is keen to appoint a Senior QS to provide surveying capability to the Commercial Team. Experiencing significant organic growth, the company’s projects range in value from £250k - £21m and continue to build upon their success.

About the role:
The Senior Quantity Surveyor role is a senior position in the business working in the Sales department and reporting directly to Commercial Manager. This job is a client-facing role as the Quantity Surveyor will be the bridge between the clients and all sections of the business from the factory floor to the sales team, designers, and finance team. This role involves working closely with Project Managers and Site Managers in order to understand current issues and progress with site.

This role will predominantly focus on managing the contract process from negotiating terms through to the final account. It will require a good understanding of the construction industry, specifically construction contracts. Noticing and resolving issues and seeing them through to completion is essential. Suitable candidate will be a motivated individual that is driven to see the progress of jobs from initial client enquiry through to completion. You will be able to assess any error and investigate it thoroughly (Good contract knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts would be an advantage).

This is a Contract position that requires candidates to be flexible and work under their own initiative.

Duties and responsibilities:
Prepare and issue Account Development Review to Clients regularly
Prepare and issue Applications for Payment to Clients on a timely basis and obtain necessary Client approval
Prepare and settle Final Account within two months of completion of the project
Recover retention
Work closely with Project Managers and Site Managers
Issue Sub-Contract Works Orders and issue variations to Sub-Contract Works Orders
Measure Sub-Contractor performance and quality of work by regularly visiting site
Review and approve Sub-Contractor Applications for Payment and Issue Payment Certificates on a timely basis
Review of the contract specification and scope of work to ensure compliance
Authorise Purchase Orders for payment (receipting)
Manage Sub-Contractor Final Accounts
Prepare re-measure reports for Commercial Manager when required
Prepare and issue project related report as and when required by the Commercial Manager
Working with the sales team on commercial and contractual elements of the contract
Active at senior meetings to discuss the commercial elements of the project
Negotiation of the order ancillary documents
Support the accounts team with contract sum build up and application process
Negotiations and discussions with the Contractor to resolve any disputes

Must-haves:
A minimum of 10 years Quantity Surveying experience
Project experience of £5-£10m
Desirable: M&E experience
QS Degree qualified
Desirable: Modular construction experience
Contractor and client experience to understand the processes and correct procedures within the construction industry
Essential: Understand and interpret legal contract documentation
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Confident decision maker and problem solver
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Work effectively under pressure as an individual and a team
Essential: Fully IT Literate (Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge)
