Senior Quantity Surveyor role - Heavy Civil Engineering sector - Manchester area - NEC 
 
 Form of contract 
 The client 
 My client are National Civil engineering Contractor based in the Manchester area. They work within a wide range of different heavy civil engineering sectors including some (but not all) infrastructure - highways / roads, bridges, marine, all general earthworks, groundworks, rail etc. All projects will be large projects £50 - £100 million in value. All applicants will have been a Senior Quantity Surveyor on similar sized projects. 
 
 Duties 
 Preparing tender and contract documents, this will include bills of quantities with the client. 
 Ensure the full and proper implementation of the company Procedures. 
 Performing risk, value management and cost control. 
 To co-operate with, report to and implement the reasonable directives of the Senior Commercial Manager 
 To ensure in consultation with the project team that all necessary notices and submissions required by the various forms of contract are given in an expedient manner so as to protect the companys position in its trading activities. 
 Performing Value management and cost control 
 Prepare accurate draft sub-contracts and/or to approve such drafts as prepared by subordinates to the level of responsibility delegated by the individuals supervisors. 
 Arranging payments and valuing completed work. 
 To assist the project team in the administration of sub-contractor performance so as to ensure the economic and timely completion of all sub-contractor liabilities written into sub-contracts. 
 Record and analyse the impact of variations/design cost control/value engineering. 
 Participate and advise on programme/delay issues arising from change/variations and to prepare claims for extensions of time. 
 To prepare, negotiate and settle final accounts. 
 All financial reporting. 
 Participate or lead in Project Meetings. 
 To participate in dispute avoidance or alternatively resolution. 
 Ensure the timely submission of all relevant data required to monitor and analyse individual contract performance on a monthly and quarterly basis thereafter. 
 Strong client facing and negotiating skills 
 
 The candidate 
 Must have large heavy civil engineering project experience. 
 Must have blue chip / large main civil engineering contractor experience. 
 Must have large infrastructure / transport project experience, 
 In depth knowledge of different kinds of heavy civil engineering projects such as highways and roads, bridges, drainage etc. 
 Candidate personality traits hardworking, ambitious, driven, excellent communication skills 
 Required 
 A relevant construction related degree (Civil Engineering, Commercial Management or Quantity Surveying) 
 Proficient in the use of MS Packages e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint. 
 Experienced in preparation of Bills of Quantities, monthly valuations, final accounts etc 
 Desirable Qualification but not essential - Professional membership of recognised institute e.g. RICS, CIOB, ICES (desirable). 
 
 Salary Details 
 £50,000 - £63,000
