Senior Health and Safety Consultant / Principal Designer - Bradford, West Yorkshire - £45k-£55k+package dependent on qualifications/experience 

The role presents an excellent opportunity for an experienced Principal Designer / Health and Safety Advisor to join our well-established health and safety team. Based out of our office in Bradford and working on major, prestigious projects, the successful candidate will work on a diverse range of projects and in a variety of sectors. The candidate will be a proactive team player, assisting the Health & Safety Team Manager, Managing Director and the Board of Directors where required and undertaking business development duties consistent with the business aims and objectives.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Carry out the duties of Principal Designer/Adviser to the Principal Designer/Client (CDM 2015) Adviser as defined under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (As Amended).
  • Where appropriate, represent the company at design team meetings, site meetings and other meetings, as agreed at commencement of the project in the completion of the above duties.
  • Give general advice with regard to health & safety and advice relating to construction health & safety issues.
  • Ensure compliance with quality assurance procedures.

You will:-

  • Be qualified to minimum NEBOSH General / NEBOSH Construction certificate level, with desire to progress to Diploma level (full support given to progress to higher level qualification
  • Have membership of appropriate professional institutions, minimum Technical Member (TechIOSH) of Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, with view to progression to Chartered Member (CMIOSH).
    Have membership of the APS (Associate for Project Safety)
  • Be an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, with the ability to communicate with people at all levels, internally and externally and work as part of a team.
    • Be able to encourage co-operation, co-ordination and communication between designers.
  • Be able to build client relationships and ensure a high standard of technical service, secure repeat business and develop a profitable workload.
  • Be competent in the use IT, digital media and technologies such as Microsoft Teams and Excel
  • Possess high degree of organisational skills to manage a variety of tasks, prioritise own and subordinates workload and be able to manage time effectively to deliver projects within timescales and on budget.
  • Be aware and up to date with all appropriate current legislation and forthcoming changes.
