Senior Estimator – Manchester – Construction – Up to £85,000 salary

Client
My client are looking for a Senior Estimator to lead projects on large sized purpose built facilities. Projects can be valued up to £80-£90Million pounds.

Duties & Responsibilities
This role is focused on preparing and winning the larger and more complex tenders for the business, managing robust and long-term relationships with clients and internal teams in line with the general strategy.

• Lead the resources on a tenders, with a high degree of commercial acumen and skill
• To be accountable for and ensure estimates produced are robust
• To lead and prepare the complete commercial and pricing element of a tender or cost plan and coordinate external resources
• Undertake the production of tender submission documents, take the lead commercially, attend pre-tender and post tender interviews with both internal management and clients.
• Manage the estimate process and resources with a high degree of commercial acumen and skill
• Report on progress of the tender via weekly estimating meetings
• To prepare a detailed control document to handover to delivery team
• To work to the Company’s Quality, Environmental and Safety Management System standards and performance criteria
• To co-operate on matters of health and safety and follow the training provided.
• Any other duties consistent with the role of Senior Estimator as may be required from time to time.

Candidate
• A degree (or equivalent) in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering or extensive experience
• Minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience
• Experience gained in complex and geographically dispersed construction or built environment businesses.
• Excellent IT skills – proficient in Microsoft suite of programmes (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Commercially astute with a strong understanding of the construction process
• A self-starter able to demonstrate high levels of initiative and self-motivation and be comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy
• Methodical, analytical and organised with an attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Able to build effective relationships across the business and externally at all levels
• Strong motivation to mentor and upskill junior team members
