Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer (SEM) - MENSA PP&E Project

Location: AWE Burghfield (Four days a week on-site, with possible travel to manufacturing suppliers within the UK)

Role Length: 1 year

Working Hours:
Monday to Sunday (4 days on-site at AWE Burghfield)
08:00 - 18:00 (10 hours per day)

Rates: Day rate £730.00 - Outside IR35

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the success of a large scale project within the defence sector. Specifically overseeing packages within the Process Plant & Equipment domain. Your primary responsibilities will include:

Design Stewardship: Ensure packages in manufacturing/site installation phases align with design intent requirements. Manage the design development and guide it through to verification.

Process Oversight: Demonstrate adherence to proper design processes, engaging stakeholders, and compiling feedback. Generate comprehensive design review presentations.

Team Leadership: Prioritize and manage the Engineering team working on designated packages, ensuring efficient collaboration and timely deliverables.

Technical Query Management: Review and provide competent assessments of responses to Technical Queries, Commissioning Reservations, and other relevant inquiries.

Desired Experience:

Previous AWE experience highly desirable.
Preference for candidates with a background in nuclear/defence and/or installation.

Qualifications and Skills:

Ability to obtain SC Clearance is a minimum requirement.
Proven experience in the installation of Process Plant & Equipment, preferably within the nuclear sector, with a background in mechanical engineering.
Strong understanding of design intent requirements and the ability to manage their delivery effectively.
Demonstrated leadership skills in guiding engineering teams through complex projects.
Familiarity with technical query resolution processes and commissioning practices.
