I am currently recruiting a Senior Consultant for a consultancy in Yorkshire. My client provides strategic estates advice, business case services and programme/project management solutions to a wide range of customers across the UK

ROLE OVERVIEW

Working as a key member of a growing team, the Senior Estates Planner will be responsible for the initiation and implementation of a range of strategic estates advice.

The successful candidate will effectively manage multiple streams of work and lead on a range of activities in support of estate strategy development, feasibility studies and business case authoring.

My client is are looking for someone who will embrace the complexity and breadth of the strategic estates planning role, possessing excellent communication and facilitation skills to harness and build positive relationships, whilst being able to put forwards alternative points of view and respectfully challenge.

You will provide senior support to the Associate Director in relation to strategy and business case commissions, lead your own specific projects and programmes of work, and provide tailored guidance, support and engagement to the wider team.

The role includes a significant customer facing element to ensure client satisfaction and to support in the generation of new business opportunities.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

STRATEGIC ESATES ADVICE

To lead internal teams in providing advice to our customers and partners as required (e.g. options appraisals, feasibility studies, estates strategies, PIDs, business case authoring, workshop facilitation, space utilisation, other research), either solely, as part of the wider team or with external advisors, as needed.

Liaise with external clients and stakeholders to create new strategic estates opportunities in line with the business plan, working with colleagues, partners and shareholders.

Appoint contractors and advisors to support delivery.

Effectively manage multidisciplinary teams.

To support the relevant company boards with timely and accurate information to inform decision making and ensure that all directors (and shareholders) are engaged and committed to any new projects

Manage commission in line with fee proposals, measuring time and cost performance of the team, and identifying future efficiencies

CLIENT/CUSTOMER LIAISON

A significant proportion of this role is client facing - acting as the lead consultant/ professional on our strategic advice commissions- presenting our offer to the client and ensuring the timelines and quality of our delivery.

Promoting and presenting a professional personal and company brand in all dealings

Developing and nurturing successful and rewarding relationships with colleagues and the supply chain

Listening and understanding the client’s needs and developing new client relationships

Ensuring a working environment exists where complete client satisfaction is at the forefront of every team member’s mind

ESSENTIAL

  • Hold a formal degree qualification
  • Proven experience in leading and delivering on the preparation of estate strategies, and business cases in accordance with the HM Treasury Green Book guidance
  • Experience of working within health, social care, and/ or education sectors
  • Experience of delivering against competing priorities and deadlines while also directing the work of teams/individuals
  • You will be resilient and have the credibility to engage with and influence at the senior level, along with a wide range of local and regional stakeholders
  • The ability to work as a team member in a busy working environment, but also the ability to work unsupervised at times
  • Excellent listening and communication skills
  • The ability to learn and work with new technology and software
  • Good decision making skills
  • An excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, in particular Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Have effective and efficient time management skills
  • Awareness of the importance of confidentiality
  • Have a thorough approach/high levels of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Be able to implement new and improved ways of working
  • A full, valid UK driving licence and own transport

DESIRABLE

  • Better Business Cases Registered Practitioner
  • Membership of an appropriate professional body
  • Working knowledge of LIFT, PFI or Procure 22 or other related frameworks
  • Experience of working directly with or for the public sector
  • Understanding of current national education and/ or healthcare policy, strategic direction and objectives and national programmes
  • Experience working in or around healthcare service planning and/ or service change programmes
