Job Description:

Our client, a growing Civil Engineering contractor, who operate within the Water sector, have an excellent opportunity available for a Senior Civil Engineering Design Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis, working on contracts for one of their key clients: Severn Trent Water. The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience producing, delivering and coordinating designs within the Water sector, such as working on AMP6 or AMP7 Clean Water and Wastewater / Sewage turnkey projects.

This role will suit civil engineering bias candidates who can produce civil design documents/drawings, taking into account HSQE, project specifications and construction contract standards, minimising risks and maximising profit.

Daily duties will include but are not limited to:

• Drive development and carry out review of civil and structural 3D engineering models.
• Drive production and carry out review of construction quality civil layouts and structure general arrangement drawings which are cost effective, meet the requirements of the specification and which can be constructed, maintained, commissioned and demolished safely.
• Work to procedures and processes to ensure the continuing development of the discipline.
• Resource planning and responsibility for project delivery within budget and programme.
• Coordination of designs with other disciplines and use of resources both internal and external.
• Maintain files and records throughout the duration of contracts.
• Provide supervision of civil design staff.
• Provide support to help develop staff.
• Ensure designs take account of environmental issues.
• Ensure that design takes full regard of all health and safety requirements.
• Assist in improving processes and procedures.

Candidates will ideally have:

• Relevant experience working as Civils Design Engineer within the Water / Waste sector, understanding construction standards and design deliverables.
• A formal qualification in engineering, such as a HND or a degree (or equivalent).
• A relevant membership with a professional institution (Chartered or nearing chartership).
• Working knowledge of Civil and Structural 3D engineering models.
• Ability to understand technical proposals.
• Knowledge of Projectwise.
