A successful Architectural practice is seeking a talented Residential Designer to join their expanding Bristol based office. They have a determination to provide a first-class service, which has generated client relationships across the Housing and Residential sectors.

The Designer role will involve liaising with various housing builders and developers and the successful candidate would benefit from the opportunity to develop their experience and role within the growing team. Candidates with extensive residential experience, particularly with housing developers are encouraged to apply.This is a fantastic opportunity for a Part II Architectural Assistant/ Part III Architect or Architectural Designer to work with a client that is caring about employees and clients, maintaining long lasting relationships in both areas.

They are an award-winning creative team, responsive to client requirements, applying technical expertise and commercial realism to effectively resolve complex issues and produce well-designed, innovative, and deliverable buildings. A residential design background with an architectural degree or similar experience is required and working knowledge of current UK planning policy and the RIBA Work Stages are essential. 

You will need to work collaboratively and have the ability to understand, communicate and present contextual issues from surrounding large areas, attend pre application discussions, planning meetings and consultations and have involvement in all planning stages from initial site appraisals through to outline and full planning approvals.  You will also be required to keep up to date with developments in the field and to support the team in being at the leading edge of urban design and work within a management capacity, producing layout designs / feasibility sketches and design and access statements.

Ideally you will have several years professional experience working in a design focused practice or from a developer / housebuilder background and a proven track record demonstrating ability to take a client brief from concept, through the testing layout and up to planning application as well as working knowledge of current UK planning policies and the RIBA Work Stages.  You will also have a keen interest in residential-led projects, and be able to present your work in this context.

Excellent drawing and presentation skills and the ability to explain a design idea and evolution of a concept, outstanding graphic skills including hand drawings and diagrams, plans and images using Photoshop / Illustrator as well as having good AutoCAD skills and preparing 2D and 3D work.

Excellent spoken and written English is essential as well as living within a commutable distance of Bristol for going in to the office 3 days a week with 2 days working remotely.
