Regional Sustainability Lead for the Northern region required for large tier one main contractor

We are looking for an experienced and passionate sustainability professional to join aleading construction company to lead the delivery of there sustainability strategy across the Northern Business Unit. The successful applicant will also sit on the company Sustainability Leadership Group, helping to shape strategy, embedding sustainability into all projects.

This is a flexible role location wise, with offices in Newcastle, Manchester and Edinburgh, you will be able to base yourself in any of these locations. Some travel would be required throughout the Northern region for the role.


Job Purpose

To lead a team of direct reports and wider regional business to embed and deliver the requirements of our company sustainability strategy and client deliverables on our projects in the Northern Business Unit.

The successful candidate should have experience in construction environmental management, leading a team and delivering projects which are aligned to our sustainability strategys four category areas, namely Carbon, Resource Efficiency, Ethical Procurement and Social Value.

Experience in a construction environmental / sustainability role
Previous experience of leading a team
Qualifications / strong knowledge of environmental assessment methods (BREEAM, HQM, WELL etc).
Experience in delivering low carbon solutions on projects e.g., reduced embodied carbon
Demonstrable knowledge of environmental legislation and control measures in a construction environment
Experience in tendering and work winning
Detailed understanding of industry and client sustainability requirements
