My client is looking to appoint a Regional Planning manager due to continued success and future business growth to join their team based at the Yorkshire office in Wakefield.
My client is a five-star rated housebuilder who specializes in 2,3 & 4 bedroom homes.

The Role
We are looking for a successful planning manager with a proven track record of securing planning approvals who is commercially minded, passionate and has strong relationship-building skills.
As Planning manager, you will support the Regional Technical and Land teams to develop, agree, implement and deliver the Region’s land acquisition and development requirements through successfully advising on and gaining planning approvals that meet the Region and Group business plan and future growth requirements.

Key duties
• Provide the Regional Technical Director & Land Director with operational & tactical land appraisal planning reports, and assessments presenting clear and reasoned planning advice in terms of potential risks/opportunities and likely planning gain requirements.
• Work closely with the Regional Technical team and third-party providers to ensure that planning applications are prepared in accordance with Local Authority and our own business requirements.
• Actively manage and be responsible for the planning application process for all applications in the Region through direct liaison and negotiation with the Local Authority and key stakeholders.
• Proactively identify and negotiate planning gain contributions with the Land Director and Regional Technical Director.
• Manage the drafting and completion of all Section 106 Agreements with the Local Authority and our legal teams.
• Ensure that all planning permissions are value-driven and are commercially optimal for the region to achieve its business plan.
• Manage the compliance and coordination on the discharge of planning conditions.
• Provide key status, project information, assessments, analysis, and recommendations in relation to all regional planning matters, take action to mitigate planning risk, protect land acquisition, site start development targets and KPIs.
• Monitor and report on both local and national planning policy changes and key planning decisions.
• Engage in the process of determining, agreeing & delivering site start programmes so that planning matters are not a risk to meeting the agreed timescales.
• Provide effective & relevant planning reports and documentation for each development.
• Providing support where necessary to the Head of Planning on all planning matters.



Requirements

• Have experience working within a Town Planning discipline (minimum of 2 years’ experience)
• Have experience working with either a private sector consultancy, housebuilder or Local Planning Authority where you will have gained diverse experience in planning management and securing commercially deliverable planning approvals.
• You will have a relevant qualification or broad and extensive experience in planning management.
• An excellent track record of successfully delivering planning approvals
• An in-depth understanding of the legal frameworks associated with planning management and development procurement.
• Comprehensive technical and legal knowledge and broad Financial / Commercial awareness that impact on land acquisition and planning matters.

What we offer
• £60000 - £70000 (depending on experience) plus package, bonus, and many other benefits
