My client is a fast growing and exciting property development/investment company that specialises within the supported living sector. They work with numerous care providers to deliver buildings for some of society’s most vulnerable individuals.

The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Quantity surveyor/Estimator to join them at their base in Blackpool. They are looking for an ambitious individual to come on board and help deliver their current projects and assist with what they have in the pipeline moving forward. The role offers a perfect opportunity for individuals with a desire to further their careers by joining a rapidly growing company, to grow with the company, as it continues to progress and push the boundaries of how supported living developments should be delivered.
The role will be to support the Company by providing crucial technical advice across all stages of the development process, from pre-purchase assessing & identifying risks, to validating costs and carrying out inspections/valuations throughout the development
The successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring we are able to deliver the right property/solution for the care provider we are working with. The candidate will hold excellent communication skills, have the ability to work as part of a team and the confidence to have a positive impact on the Company.
Duties
• Taking measurements to produce estimations based on our spec to see if a scheme is viable before purchase.
• Preparation of scope of works.
• Preparation of bill of quantities.
• To issue the scope and bill to a list of contractors for tender.
• Once tenders received, to negotiate prices down with the contractor.
• Assistance with site preparation activities.
• Site visits to assess progress & contractor’s valuations ahead of payments.
• To connect with new contractors, and to provide input/feedback to improve value for money.
• Complete processes with a high degree of commercial acumen and skill.
• All aspects of Health & Safety, including - preparing site files, RAMS, Construction Phase Plans, lift plans.
• Managing several projects at any one time.
• Attending project / site meetings as the company representative.
• Producing an O&M manual upon practical completion of each scheme.
Candidate
A successful candidate for this role must have:
• Proven experience within the construction industry
• 5yrs experience in Quantity Surveying
• A sound understanding of safety systems and value the importance of attention to detail within your work
• Ideal person will have some Estimating experience
• Proficient IT skills
• Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
• Ambition and self-motivation
• Forward thinking
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Excellent work ethic
• Ability to work autonomously
Salary and package
• Up to £60,000 depending on experience
• Sociable working hours
