The client
A national FM, refurbishment, regeneration and energy contractor. Manchester based role.
The role
Permanent role
This is a full time role working 37.5 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.
The role holder will be a construction experienced Quantity Surveyor used to working as part of a project delivery team within healthcare environments.
Roles and Responsibilities
Take responsibility, ownership and accountability of the successful management and control all aspects of the commercial / financial and contractual elements of the designated project to control and maximize the company’s profitability.
Protect the companies legal and contractual obligations under the contract and to manage proactively the control of all commercial issues. This is to include ensuring applications and valuations are completed in line with the contract terms and ensuring sub-contractors receive prompt payment and are procured in line with our contractual obligations and Commitments to Subcontractors.
Make sure project risks are identified and managed through effective mitigation measures. Manage the implementation of designated projects. Ensure the project plan is maintained from inception to completion.
Monitoring and communicating project financial performance and administration for the projects. Liaising with the Project Coordinator and Finance Business Partner to ensure accuracy.
Keep project tracker up to date working with Project Coordinator to ensure information is accurate and up to date and available for financial planning and reporting.
Understand, implement and adhere to the company SHEQ policy/strategy.

The candidate
Construction background, ideally in Healthcare / Hospital projects, experience of the PFI environment is desirable.
Considerable experience operating in the public and/or private sector with a demonstrable track record of directly managing small works within large and complex estates is essential.
A strong project manager, who will have the ability to successfully lead, motivate and manage the subcontract teams.
Have strong commercial awareness particularly in respect of contract management.
Ability to show understanding of Local Authority legislation, Planning Applications, Fire and Building Regulations Approvals, HBNs and HTMs.
Self-motivating, able to work on own initiative, liaise and delegate effectively with staff operating in a multi-disciplinary environment.
A sound knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act, the Construction Design and Management Regulations and other relevant statutory requirements will be required.
Able to demonstrate a sound understanding of technical and estates and building issues in the provision of construction, maintenance, and FM services.
A formal qualification related to Quantity Surveying, for example HNC /HND or equivalent qualification in a building or engineering discipline or proven experience in a similar role.
Good organisational skills and the ability to communicate at all levels including producing specific project reports.
