Job Title: Quantity Surveyor - Civil Engineering

Location: Yorkshire

Company Overview:

Our client is a fast-growing Tier 1 Contractor that specializes in civil engineering projects, including highways and infrastructure. They are currently looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their Civil Engineering department to work on projects in the Yorkshire region.

Job Description:

The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for providing commercial support to the Civil Engineering department on a range of projects, ensuring that projects are delivered within budget, on time, and to the required quality standards. The role will involve working closely with the Project Manager and the commercial team to provide accurate and timely cost and value reporting, and ensuring that commercial risks are identified and managed effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documents for civil engineering projects.
  • Preparing and negotiating contract agreements, including variations and claims.
  • Reviewing and assessing project progress, costs, and variations, and providing regular cost and value reports to the Project Manager and the commercial team.
  • Managing the change control process and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Liaising with the supply chain to ensure that sub-contractor costs are managed effectively.
  • Providing support and guidance to junior members of the commercial team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related field.
  • At least 3 years' experience in Quantity Surveying in a construction environment, with experience in highways and infrastructure being an advantage.
  • Good understanding of civil engineering contracts, including NEC and ICE.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to liaise with a range of stakeholders including clients, contractors, and sub-contractors.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
