Quantity Surveyor - Yorkshire Water Contractor

Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire

Company Overview: We are an external recruitment agency specializing in talent acquisition for leading contractors in the water and wastewater industry. Our client, a reputable Yorkshire Water Contractor based in Leeds, is seeking a talented and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team.

Role Overview: As the Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in providing commercial support for our client's Yorkshire Water projects. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered within budget, on time, and to the highest quality standards. Your expertise in quantity surveying, particularly in the water and wastewater sector, will be essential in accurately managing costs, identifying risks, and providing valuable insights to the commercial team.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documentation for Yorkshire Water projects.
  • Assist in the negotiation and administration of contract agreements, including variations and claims.
  • Regularly assess project progress, costs, and variations, and provide timely cost and value reports to the commercial team and project management.
  • Effectively manage change control processes and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Collaborate with the supply chain to manage sub-contractor costs efficiently.
  • Provide support and guidance to junior members of the commercial team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry, with exposure to water and wastewater projects being advantageous.
  • Sound knowledge of construction contracts, including NEC and JCT.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities, with the capacity to engage with clients, contractors, and sub-contractors.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
