Job title - Quantity Surveyor/Senior Quantity Surveyor
Projects – Residential / extra care / apartments
Location - Office based Preston / site based North West
The candidate - The project Quantity Surveyor will need to be experienced in social and affordable housing (apartments and new build housing developments).
The project(s) - New build social housing projects. Scheme size will vary from £1 to £8m and project QS would be expected to oversee a number of projects at any one time.
The client - A medium sized, well established contractor with an excellent reputation. A residential specialist building contractor
Duties
Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager, the role will entail:
• Preparing and agreeing monthly interim valuations and final accounts.
• Recording, costing and agreeing contract variations.
• Managing main and subcontracts.
• Internal monthly cost/value reconciliation cost reports.
• Subcontract procurement including preparing tender enquiries, reconciling quotations and placing subcontract orders.
• Management notification and payment of subcontract interim and final accounts.
• Managing payment of consultants interim and final accounts.
• Day to day cost control and cashflow forecasting.
• Assisting the development and training of trainee and assistant surveyors.
• Maintaining and developing professional relationships.
Essentials
Experience of working with a social housing contractor on residential projects· Quantity Surveying or similar Degree - Preferable ·
A good understanding of all aspects of surveying and contractual procedures· Understanding of the financial implications of the methods and sequences of build · In-depth knowledge of the construction industry·
Good knowledge of commercial and financial management systems and controls· Strong personal organisational skills
· Ability to work alone but also as part of a team within a growing business· Computer literacy
• Experience using JCT D&B suite of contracts.
• Good knowledge of commercial and financial management systems and controls
• Computer literacy especially in Microsoft Excel
• Ability to juggle a number of projects and tasks at the same time
Salary and Package
£45,000 - £65,000
25 days holiday
