Job Description
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Project Manager to oversee and manage Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) projects, with a specific focus on leading a design team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing M&E projects and possess strong leadership skills to drive successful project outcomes. This role requires a professional who is adept at coordinating complex projects and ensuring all design and construction phases are executed efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:
Project Management:

Plan, initiate, and oversee M&E and construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and deliverables in collaboration with the design team and other stakeholders.
Conduct regular project reviews and report progress, challenges, and solutions to senior management and clients.
Coordinate with various stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, to ensure seamless project execution.
Design Team Management:

Lead and manage a multidisciplinary design team, providing clear direction, support, and motivation.
Oversee the design process to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and client requirements.
Facilitate effective communication and collaboration within the team and with external partners.
Ensure the design deliverables are completed to the highest quality and within the specified timelines.
Quality and Compliance:

Ensure all project activities comply with relevant health and safety regulations, including SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) requirements.
Implement and monitor quality assurance and control processes to guarantee project standards are met.
Address and resolve any issues or discrepancies that arise during the project lifecycle.
Budget and Resource Management:

Manage project budgets, including cost estimation, budget tracking, and financial reporting.
Allocate resources efficiently and effectively to meet project demands and optimize productivity.
Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers and subcontractors to secure cost-effective solutions.
Risk Management:

Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact.
Conduct risk assessments and implement proactive measures to address and resolve issues promptly.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:

Proven experience in managing M&E projects, with a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
Demonstrated experience in leading and managing a design team.
Excellent project management skills, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a team.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise with clients and stakeholders at all levels.
Proficiency in project management software and tools.
Desirable:

Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or Prince2.
Experience in using BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology.
Location:
This role is based in Bristol, with very occasional travel to project sites as required.
