The client

A dynamic, multi-disciplinary construction company are currently looking for a project Estimator. An exciting opportunity to work on construction, development, and refurbishment projects.

My client handles a variety of different kinds of projects including offices, leisure, health, education, industrial, housing, and mixed used projects. Tender values will be between £5 - £25 million in value.
This role as an exciting opportunity to join an ambitious, growing company lead by a strong team of successful construction professionals.

The Role

Review tender documents assessing scope, risks involved, tender complexity and provide feedback to Directors in conjunction with the Contract Manager / Senior Management review contract details relevant to the company’s ability to deliver under the contract. Carry out material take offs and send out enquiries to subcontractors and suppliers for each tender for works packages required from the tender documentation, drawings and specifications. Evaluate returned quotations from suppliers and, where necessary, enter into correspondence with suppliers to bring quotations in line with the project specification requirements.

Duties

Monitor potential incoming enquiries
Required to build relationships with Architects, Quantity Surveyors and Competitors
Maintain up-to-date market knowledge of labour, plant, materials and sub-contractors
Prepare & send out sub-contract & material enquiries using conquest enquiry system
Where required produce accurate take-off using Excel
Manage, as directed, enquiries for labour, plant, materials and sub-contractors
Price bills/schedules analytically and produce quote comparisons using excel estimating software
Complete tender pricing for adjudication by the tender committee, including reporting on any risks or onerous conditions, providing a winning edge
Liaise with planner to assess programme & preliminaries
Conducting feasibility studies and writing procurement reports
Applying Value Management techniques at the outset of a project.
On secured projects prepare information for handover to the contract team
Assist in improving Company estimating library
Check tender documentation Measure tender against
Decision Analysis Inform Tender Committee on Contract Conditions

Essentials
*Previous experience as a Senior Estimator / Pre Construction Manager
Construction related qualification preferably a Quantity Surveying degree and a HND /HNC
*Ability to take off - essential
*Experience working in a construction company
* Experience working on DoE Framework - Desirable
* Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise own workload
* Excellent attention to detail
* Proven leadership skills with the ability to effectively delegates as appropriate
