The landscape team in Birmingham is seeking a talented Chartered Associate/Associate Director Landscape Architect with experience of running teams working on large multi-disciplinary projects with high profile commercial financial and legal implications, to join their studio in central Birmingham leading its growing team of 10. Their role will be to act as Landscape studio lead to develop and inspire our innovative landscape architects in the Birmingham Architecture, Masterplanning and Landscape practice as a part of their Midlands Southwest and Wales regional team. Their studio in central Birmingham comprises landscape architects, architects and building surveyors. Their new state-of-the-art office is not only exemplary but also a hub of innovative and collaborative energy. It is just a 5-minute walk from Birmingham New Street station and has cycle storage and changing facilities for those who prefer to cycle to work.


About the role:
They are looking for an inspiring landscape studio lead with a passion for design having been the author of a substantial portfolio of successful/ award winning work. Below they set out the objectives and job description for the role with a focus on the local market. You would also be responsible for work winning, team leadership and practice management around leading the Birmingham Studio for Landscape Architecture, reporting to their national head of discipline. The role requires individuals with direct experience of lead coordinator role, delivering projects at all stages. They are seeking creative designers as well as technically focused individuals. The ability to engage with clients and stakeholders is crucial. Successful candidates should be familiar with the full construction process from business development, to bidding and project delivery - including the successful commercial management of projects.

Responsibilities:
Responsible for the day-to-day running of the landscape team within the broader studio, working with the Architectural Studio lead but responsible for the landscape team including staff development, resource management and finance.
Work proactively within a multidisciplinary environment to deliver project management leadership on major opportunities.
To manage and support business development and work winning/bidding within the local Midlands market but also working across the UK practice and closely with the regional team.
Development of the design culture and capability of their multi-disciplinary design team(s).
To continue to develop designs that are firmly rooted with a strong narrative and that seek to enhance our reputation.
To secure work through bidding and developing compelling design concepts.
Contribute to design leadership and culture.
Successful delivery of projects to a high level of quality and Client satisfaction acting as Lead Consultant/Design Manager.
Identifying opportunities and supporting the development of winning bids for projects in the government, transportation, water, education, and related sectors - both single discipline and multi-disciplinary.
Requirements:

Having excellent communication skills, fluent in English – spoken and written.
Excellent presentation skills, both verbally and visually. Able to demonstrable track record and familiarity with different sector clients in the midlands.
A creative designer with an understanding of technical delivery.
Proven team management skills and experience.
Be able to work calmly under pressure and guide , inspire and motivate our teams.
Experience in preparing successful bids and tenders.
Ability to confidently engage with clients and stakeholders.
Direct experience of lead coordinator role, delivering projects at all stages.
A good awareness of Autodesk Revit and managing projects in a BIM environment.
Practical working knowledge of SketchUp or other similar software package.
Practical working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or other similar software package.
Practical working knowledge of Landscape and Visual Assessment matters and GIS.
