Job Title: Highways Site Manager

Employer: Reputable North West Contractor

Location: North West Region, United Kingdom

Salary: £45,000 + £55,000 + car/allowance and general package

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highways Site Manager to join our dynamic team at a well-established North West contractor. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a strong background in highways construction to lead and manage projects of varying scales and complexities.

Responsibilities:

  1. Project Management: Take full responsibility for overseeing all aspects of highway construction projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, within budget, and according to the agreed timeline.
  2. Team Leadership: Manage a team of skilled professionals, including engineers, supervisors, and contractors, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  3. Health and Safety: Uphold a strong commitment to safety protocols, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting regular inspections, and promoting a safety-first culture.
  4. Quality Assurance: Maintain high standards of workmanship and ensure adherence to project specifications, industry best practices, and quality control processes.
  5. Client Relationship: Establish and maintain effective communication channels with clients, addressing any concerns, providing progress updates, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  6. Resource Management: Efficiently allocate and manage resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, optimizing productivity and minimizing waste.
  7. Budget and Cost Control: Monitor project costs, review financial reports, and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality or safety standards.
  8. Documentation and Reporting: Accurately record project data, prepare progress reports, maintain site records, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.

Requirements:

  1. Education and Experience: Possess a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field, coupled with a minimum of 5 years' experience in highways construction and site management.
  2. Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of highways construction techniques, relevant regulations, and industry standards. Familiarity with traffic management and temporary works procedures is highly desirable.
  3. Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams, delegate tasks effectively, and resolve conflicts in a professional and constructive manner.
  4. Strong Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with team members, clients, stakeholders, and subcontractors.
  5. Organizational and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong planning and organizational abilities to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and find innovative solutions to challenges.
  6. Health and Safety: A proven track record in maintaining high standards of health and safety on construction sites, with a comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation and regulations.
  7. IT Proficiency: Proficient in using project management software, MS Office Suite, and other relevant applications.
  8. Driving License: Possess a valid driving license.
