Job Title: Fire Sprinkler Design Engineer
Location: Manchester, UK
Job Description: We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced fire sprinkler engineer to join one of the UK’s fastest growing fire protection companies based in Manchester.
Responsibilities:
1. System Design: Collaborate with architects, building owners, and project managers to design fire sprinkler systems that comply with local fire safety codes and regulations.
2. Engineering: Utilize engineering software and tools to create detailed plans, layouts, and drawings for fire sprinkler systems. Calculate water supply requirements, pipe sizing, and hydraulic calculations.
3. Code Compliance: Stay up-to-date with the latest fire safety codes and standards in the UK, including British Standards and Building Regulations, and ensure that designs are compliant.
4. Material Selection: Select appropriate materials and components for fire sprinkler systems, considering factors such as durability, cost, and compatibility.
5. Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments to identify potential fire hazards and determine the most effective fire sprinkler system design to mitigate those risks.
6. Coordination: Collaborate with other design and engineering disciplines (e.g., electrical, HVAC) to ensure seamless integration of fire sprinkler systems with the overall building design.
7. Documentation: Create comprehensive design documentation, including plans, specifications, and reports, to communicate design intent to project stakeholders.
8. Quality Assurance: Review and approve installation plans and oversee the installation process to ensure that the system is installed correctly and meets design specifications.
9. Testing and Inspection: Coordinate with testing and inspection teams to verify the functionality of fire sprinkler systems and ensure they meet regulatory requirements.
10. Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, adhering to project timelines and budgets.
11. Client Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients to address their concerns, provide updates on project progress, and address any design-related issues.
Qualifications:
1. Previous experience in designing fire sprinkler systems is essential.
2. Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and hydraulic calculation software.
3. Strong knowledge of UK fire safety codes, standards, and regulations.
4. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
5. · Knowledge/ Experience of Revit and Navisworks

6. Knowledge of LPC Rules/ BS EN 12845 and BS9251
7. Knowledge of NFPA/ FM codes
8. Prior experience in fire sprinkler system design is preferred.
9. Project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
