DESIGN MANAGER (MMC)

Location: Cheshire (projects are nationwide)
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 per annum (negotiable subject to experience)
Start Date: ASAP

We are seeking a technically minded Design Manager to join a leading national contractor on a permanent basis. The primary task will be to take lead on key design team meetings at tender and project stage, implementing cost effective design solutions throughout the full project lifecycle. You will be comfortable with chairing meetings at tender stage and post contract to make this a success.
The perfect candidate would be presentable, command a good level of communication at all levels and have a proven track record of overseeing technically demanding projects.

Summary of your role:
• Oversee and coordinate both internal and external design teams, enhancing the planning and coordination processes to optimize value.
• Collaborate with the supply chain to obtain project costs related to construction aspects.
• Review contract documents and ensure clarity on contractual obligations for all parties.
• Assist in preparing tender proposals including detailed specifications and cost analyses.
• Manage pre-construction design elements to provide project assurance.
• Manage and monitor costs throughout the process to ensure adherence to budgets.
• Develop, manage, and gain buy-in for an integrated design program among all involved parties.
• Cultivate expertise in (BIM) to ensure compliance with legislative requirements and keep the firm at the forefront of industry standards.
• Create and maintain design responsibilities matrix and deliverables schedule to ensure project milestones are met.

What we require from you?
• Degree qualification in design or relevant construction subject
• Previous experience working in a similar role for a main contractor
• Previous modular experience will be beneficial but not essential
• Ability to plan, report, organise and project manage, especially in relation to programme output.
• Healthcare sector experience in design management will be highly beneficial
• Well-developed construction technical knowledge
• Excellent working knowledge of construction techniques, sequences, methodologies, and processes to aid project deliverability.
