Job Description: Design Manager

Reporting to: Divisional Manager

Division: Highways

Job Specification

Anderselite are looking to recruit a Design Manager to lead and manage a design team, both internally and with specialist partners. You will mobilise and lead a design team to produce design information that is construction led and always seek to exceed our customers' expectations. Your ability to partner with construction and client teams to generate efficiencies and drive innovation in both design development and construction will help us become a leading provider.

Key activities and personal characteristics include, but are not limited to:
- Lead implementation of Health, Safety and Environment responsibilities, including CDM
- Core technical acumen, experience, and leadership in the Highway and Public Realm space including qualification to approve and authorise designs for construction
- Natural client liaison and management ability to uphold and develop relationships
- Development, adaptation, and application of design management systems and processes ensuring continuous improvement including understanding and application of BIM
- Commercial management throughout design including application of the NEC contract suite
- Experience and understanding of construction methodologies and processes enabling a construction led design process

Your portfolio of projects may include highway and public realm projects across the UK of a value from £1m to £25m. You will be based in Hertfordshire but will be expected to travel and provide direct support that meets the demand of your project portfolio.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

Experience in major civil engineering works
Knowledge of relevant Highways design standards and its applicability for the design
Value engineering and optimisation focused
Good communication skills
Excellent Microsoft Office skills
Degree or HND in Civil Engineering with appropriate experience
Able to interpret 3D models in CAD
Understanding and management of software related to alignment and pavement design
