I am currently working with a client a leading UK building, infrastructure, engineering and fit-out company with 140 years of experience. Focused on delivering projects across a range of sectors including health, education, highways, justice, defence and water with values of up to £90mil.

They are currently looking for a Design Manager who will aid in a Blue Chip project by supporting the Project Delivery teams. A Design Manager will be assisting the Senior design manager by providing structure and guidance to the role, providing design input on site.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Design proposals meet stakeholders requirements, i.e. budget and programme constraints.
  • Monitor responsibilities for the scheme against the project design responsibilities matrix.
  • Assist in the effective management of the Design Team including M&E elements. Including potential management of 3rd parties.
  • Ensure input in the design process by engaging with the commercial and operational teams.
  • Maintain design quality management by conducting Quality Assessments or reviews of information received.
  • Assist the Senior Design Manager in various tasks, such as: record approval processes, management of the design deliverables programme, and organising meetings relating to design delivery
  • Have an awareness of sustainability deliverables, including external and internal targets, within the scheme.


Requirements:

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Essential) and CAD knowledge (Desirable).
  • Site experience and technical construction knowledge on healthcare or education projects.
  • Previous experience with a Tier 1 Contractor.
  • Familiarity with Building Regulations, fire compartmentation, and sustainability standards.
  • Relevant degree and professional qualification.
  • Understanding of M&E design and interface with construction.
