Position: Design Manager
Location: St Albans
Salary: £70,000 per annum + bens
Join our client as a Design Manager, delivering technical solutions for water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Lead multi-discipline teams in the development of concept and detailed design solutions, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Take ownership of technical appropriateness throughout the project life cycle.
Ensure compliance with client and statutory standards, regulations, and specifications.
Promote safety, environmental best practices, and sustainability through design.
Manage external design consultants and contracts, overseeing the development and delivery of asset designs.
Lead multi-discipline teams and collaborate with stakeholders.
Implement change control processes and manage engineering elements of projects.
Ensure all engineering outputs follow health and safety legislation and quality management systems.
Lead internal and external design reviews.
Support supply chain selection for specialist input.
Understand and engage in Temporary Works processes and responsibilities.
Essential & beneficial:
Minimum 10 years of design and management experience.
Experience in water and wastewater infrastructure design, including MEICA installations.
Experience designing both Foul and Potable water systems inc treatment.
Working knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and common data environments.
Degree/HNC qualified, or equivalent, in civil engineering.
Member of a recognized engineering professional body, Incorporated Engineer, or Charter Engineer and/or working towards membership.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with both clients and staff.
Self-driven and results-oriented with a positive outlook.
People management, time management, project design management.
Tickets/Training/Certs Required:
Minimum 10 years of relevant design and engineering management experience.
Degree/HND/HNC in a relevant and transferrable field (Civil Engineering / Structures / Geotech / Fluid Mech).
Good knowledge of NEC and other relevant forms of contract.
Experience of leading collaborative design processes.
Proficient in AutoCad and Bentley (preferably) or other BIM and common data environments.
Proficient in both 2D and 3D design environments.
Temporary Works Co-ordinator.
CSCS Card.
