The leading manufacturer of interior fit-out units for the construction is seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join their specialist Design team on a Permanent and full-time basis. The Design Engineer will have experience in Solid Works / AutoCAD / 3D software. Based in Somerset, this impressive company is expanding and now looking to appoint a qualified and experienced Design Engineer to report to the Design Manager. Working with large commercial, residential projects, and varied developments across the UK and with contracts valued up to £10 million, it will be an interesting role at an exciting time of the company’s growth. Working closely with main contractors and developers across a wide range of sectors (student accommodation, apartments, hotels, retirement homes, healthcare, MOD, and care homes), this company supplies over 10,000 units a year.

About the role:
The Design Engineer will have experience in Solid Works / AutoCAD / 3D software. The Design Engineer will ensure that the Client’s Design and Manufacturing requirements are satisfied from enquiry through to completion, whilst complying with the Quality, Health and Safety procedures of the Company. The successful candidate will research and develop new and innovative ideas in line with the company’s specifications. Being involved with the construction design, materials, software, and components is part of the everyday job. This job is client-facing, so the successful candidate will be a confident and professional Design Engineer with excellent communication.

Responsibilities:
All design work including Architectural, P&E Plumbing, Electrical, Detail, Fabrication, Wall Panel drawings, Howick design, BoM’s either in Solid Works/AutoCAD 2/3D
Liaise and communicate effectively with clients to identify their requirements
Compliance with Quality procedures, CDM regulations, Building Standards, relevant statutory requirements, and any other relevant standards.
Consider costs, effectiveness, and safety of new designs.
Ensure all drawings and specifications are checked for accuracy and approved before issue.
Work closely with the factory personnel to ensure optimum design and buildability of the product.
Maintain drawing and documentation filing system to the required standards.
Copy and issue design office documentation to the required standards within previously agreed timescales.

Requirements:
Essential: Solid Works / AutoCAD / 3D software
Desirable: Relevant Qualifications
Desirable: Modular Construction Experience
Advantageous: Plumbing and Electrical experience
Strong technical knowledge, as well as problem solving, communication, leadership, and project management skills
Commercial awareness
Working well with others
Planning and delivery
Safety awareness and compliance
Excellent communication skills
