Contracts Manager role with a leading Main Contractor

Are you a seasoned leader ready to drive profitability and exceed client expectations in the construction industry? I’m looking for a dedicated Contracts Manager to join my client’s team and take on a pivotal role in project management and client relations. As the senior operational manager, you'll be responsible for multiple projects, providing strategic direction and support to ensure success in terms of profit, timeliness, and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and Leadership: Provide early identification of key project aspects to prevent problems and optimize site team performance. Foster a culture of sharing best practices and mentor staff to promote development. Manage staff issues and focus on key performance elements such as safety, costs, program, and quality.
  • Project Monitoring: Ensure company procedures are followed, chair monthly project reviews, and ensure compliance with contract requirements, health and safety plans, and quality plans. Conduct audits and follow up on audit reports and safety adviser's recommendations.
  • Staff Recruitment and Development: Interview and recruit new staff, identify training needs, and encourage staff development. Identify future managers and promote staff when appropriate. Support newly promoted or new starters to ensure smooth integration and growth.
  • Client Liaison: Emphasize the importance of client satisfaction to site teams, identify and address client dissatisfaction, and manage resolution of snagging and defects. Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and consultants through regular meetings and professional interactions.
  • Tender and Pre-Contract: Assist in the tender process with buildability, value engineering, cost, and program considerations. Participate in tender interviews and presentations, assist in tender adjudication, and provide support at the pre-contract stage to site teams. Attend key subcontractor interviews and ensure contract requirements are reflected in the design.
  • Business Support: Provide support to the regional director in running the region, assist in marketing and client relations initiatives, and cooperate on new initiatives. Flexibly undertake new and varied tasks as assigned to support the overall success of the business.

Qualifications:

  • Formal qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or substantial commensurate experience
  • Proven experience in project management and leadership roles.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and client relationship management skills.
  • Ability to lead and inspire teams to achieve project goals.
  • Experience in tender processes and contract management.
  • Proficiency in project monitoring and problem-solving.
