Our client, a large Tier 1 Construction Contractor operating within the Water sector, is currently looking to hire a Commissioning Engineer on a permanent basis, to strengthen their team due to upcoming AMP8 works across the Southern Water region. The successful candidate will be involved with managing commissioning activities for water and sewage projects from inception through design, planning delivery and handover.
This role will involve managing the execution of MEICA Commissioning activities and systems (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control, and Automation), within industry specifications and compliance guidelines, safely, first time.
Daily duties will include but are not limited to:
- Ensuring safe and timely delivery of commissioning activities in accordance with client specification.
- Working on projects from inception through to completion, aiding with design / planning input.
- Monitoring testing & commissioning budget, assisting the commercial team.
- Review and monitoring of risks vs opportunities.
- Assisting with inductions and tool box talks.
- Reviewing designs including FDS (Functional Design Specification), P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) etc.
- Testing systems and signing off Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
- Creation of reports, Commissioning Plans, and O&M documentation.
- Ability to supervise and manage subcontractors.
- Attending clients meetings as required, including progress & commissioning meetings.
- Development of PLC software packages.
Candidates will ideally have:
- Previous experience working as a Commissioning Engineer within the Water sector.
- An industry applicable qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or Commissioning
- Relevant HSE qualifications such as CSCS (IOSH, SMSTS, EUSR, NICEIC C&G 2391 - Desirable)
- Working knowledge of HSQE legislation and safe delivery of works on site.
- An appreciation for wider Mechanical, Electrical, Civil and Process works, able to liaise with internal teams
