Job Title: Buyer / Senior Buyer

Reports to: Commercial Director

Based: Manchester based office

Main Purpose of the Role:

An opportunity for an ambitious Buyer or Senior Buyer to join a well-respected Developer in Manchester. You will be well established in the housing sector and have a passion to succeed. You will be joining a well-known business with an excellent reputation for delivering quality homes in convenient locations.

The Role:

Working as a Senior Buyer you will be involved in a wide variety of new build housing projects

Duties

* Communicates with Directors and gain approval for purchasing contracts with new vendors or on new supplies

* Oversees supply chain management

* Manage the purchase of materials including raising orders for sites directly whilst

* Help to manage the team to raise orders for other sites

* Continuously comparison supply chain and negotiates to make sure the company gets the best possible prices on needed supplies

* Communicates with suppliers and to make sure supplies get where they need to be when they need to be, even when a deadline is tight

* Maintains a network of professional contacts in order to discover new opportunities for good deals on orders

* Forecasts demand for certain products and makes orders accordingly

* Ensure savings, rebates and compliance are achieved in line with business strategy

* Preparing cost estimates and managing budgets

* Working to improve purchasing systems and processes

* Training new employees in the purchasing process and how to use the purchasing system

* Communicate with suppliers / site teams on a daily basis through phone, face to face & email

* Determining the best sourcing route for products from the most cost effective and quality driven outlets

* Attends monthly cost meetings to discuss and explain cost movements

* Developing and implementing purchasing strategies

* Managing daily purchasing activities, supervising staff, and allocating tasks

* Managing supplier relations and negotiating contracts, prices, timelines, etc

* Maintaining the supplier database, material supply rates, and related documentation

* Ensuring that all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications

Salary

£35,000 - £52,000 depending on level and role
