My client, Mott MacDonald, has asked me to assist in identifying and placing a CAD Technician with Bentley/Microstation experience.

You will work closely with other disciplines within Mott MacDonald to form an integrated multi-disciplinary team. The team operates an agile working policy with the expectation that 50% of your time will be spent in the York or Sheffield office.

Responsibilities will include:

Primarily working on Bentley AECOsim / Open Building Designer to undertake modelling and drawing for civil engineering projects typically involving bridges, railway station enhancements, level crossings and lineside civils infrastructure.


Producing high quality 3D models and drawings for a range of clients including Network Rail and Highways England.

Working in a CDE, typically Projectwise,

Supporting junior technicians and apprentices to develop their modelling skills, and
Contributing to development of the team's digital delivery expertise.


This is a challenging role that will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to advance their technical skills and progress within a large delivery team.

Candidate Specification - Essential :

Recognised qualification in Civil / Structural Engineering, typically HNC/HND, BTEC or NVQ Level 3 or above.

Proficient in Bentley AECOsim/ Open Building Designer / MicroStation to produce construction models & drawings.

Highly proficient in Bentley ProjectWise for project delivery.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Ability to work both independently and closely with Design Team members.

Ability to take full responsibility for design decisions and quality of deliverable / package.

Ability to solve problems independently within your field of expertise.


Candidate Specification - Desirable:

EngTech MICE (or evidence of working towards).

Experience of 3D modelling in Revit/Civils 3D.

Experience of rail design delivery and working in accordance with Rail Industry standards.

Experience of design delivery on Design and Build projects.

Experience in R.C. Detailing.

Experience in level crossing ground plan design.

Experience in multi-disciplinary project delivery.
