Job Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Location: Cheshire based office – North West, North Wales, Manchester based sites
Projects: High spec, Bespoke Housing, and apartment projects

The client

A regional housing specialist with an excellent reputation seek a Residential Assistant Quantity Surveyor to work on multiple unit traditional build large development projects across the North-West, North Wales and Manchester region. This is an amazing opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join this award winning, dynamic, growing, regional house builder who is after am opportunity to work on some exciting, fun and challenging projects with huge scope for progression. My client is busy with an extremely strong order book. The successful candidate will manage projects from inception to completion and be experienced in the preparation of schedules of work/bill of quantities, NBS specifications, preliminaries, contract conditions, employers requirements, cost plans and estimates.

Duties

Some of the key responsibilities of an Assistant Quantity Surveyor include, but are not limited to:
• Sub-contractor procurement
• Attending tender handover meetings, obtaining and understanding a full brief on the project
• Having a proactive approach to work safety, ensuring others are not endangered and working in line with established QA Procedures
• Attending tender handover meetings, obtaining and understanding a full brief on the project
• Preparing monthly cost reports
• Assisting Site Manager/Agent in the compilation of subcontractor and materials procurement schedule and Quantity Surveyor/Commercial Manager and Site Manager/Agent with materials, plant and subcontract procurement
• Dealing with subcontractors
• Assisting in the preparation and submission of interim valuations and final accounts
• Liaising with clients
• Inspecting site to maintain awareness of ongoing activities and identifying potential problems, ensuring correct records are kept and maintained on site
• Final accounts
• Producing a monthly cost summary for each site, reconciling against the Company Cost File
• Applications/ valuations
• Dealing with subcontractors
• Identifying, pricing and agreeing variations in a timely manner
• Pricing and submitting variations

The candidate

You must be able to demonstrate a successful track record in the field of Quantity Surveying, ideally within volume house building, however a strong background from within a contractor would also be considered
A minimum of 2 years’ work experience (on site and in the office)
BSc in Quantity Surveying is ideal, a HNC / HND is essential or a similar in a commercial related course is essential.
Drivers licence is essential.
