Assistant Buyer – Water/Utilities project – Preston/Hybrid working – Up to £29,000 salary

My client is looking to bring in on a permanent basis an Assistant materials/Subcontractor buyer into their project as soon as possible, the main role is to cover civils subcontract letting. The occasional UK travel to sites is required

Responsibilities
• Efficient & effective day to day management of supply chain
• Promote & develop long term value, adding collaborative relationships with the supply chain .
• Develop procurement Frameworks & Subcontracts providing end to end Supply Chain advice, sourcing, delivery, and supply chain management.
• Prepare, develop and monitor Procurement Plans.
• Collaboratively develop/prepare and issue tender packages with key stakeholders
• Take ownership for the negotiation of commercial terms
• Ensure compliance with process, governance and controls as agreed in the Procurement Rules.
• Address and resolve issues that arise internally and externally,.
• Collaborate with peers to develop and enhance value, systems, process, and best practice sharing to help in performance and bring consistency to sourcing activities.
• Establish and develop excellent working relationship with the Client Customers Suppliers.
• Support with any requirements from internal and external audits where required.
• Undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required, and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this role.
• Ensure your own continuous professional development by participating in external networking/conferences/associations/groups/training, to stay current on industry changes and innovations.

Candidate
• Confident in communicating and building relationships with cross-functional colleagues, suppliers, and business stakeholders.
• Be a self-starter and be able to represent the procurement function.
• Commercially astute
• Networking and business influence
• To always carry out your Purchasing duties in-line with the CIPS Ethical Policy
• Microsoft suite of products
• Develop and maintain close working relationship with all key stakeholders
• Experience in a Procurement role within the Construction/Utilities industry
• Professional qualification to degree level, preferably in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Economics, Procurement or related field.
• MCIPS or willing to work towards
