The client -
An award winning contractor /developer who have an excellent reputation for delivering interesting projects including high-end residential, commercial and healthcare schemes for themselves and external clients. They have strong relationships with their clients which means they enjoy a good proportion of repeat, negotiated business. Their senior management team are dynamic, knowledgeable and very approachable.
The Role -
They are looking to recruit an Assistant Buyer to work within their Procurement team, based in their Head Office in Stockport. The role reports in to the company Senior Buyer. The ultimate purpose of the role is to procure materials and plant for projects on time and at competitive rates whilst developing positive relationships with suppliers.
General responsibilities will include the following
• Prepare and issue enquiries to suppliers and evaluate quotations received
• Conduct negotiations with suppliers and place orders providing best value and service including additional materials not covered in the schedule
• Place Plant orders
• Ensure that all procurement is carried out in line with the companys Supply Chain processes & procedures
• Manage the procurement process to ensure that any disputes are resolved amicably to ensure that project delivery is not affected
• Ensure that supply partners are safe, sustainable and appropriately accredited • Input material schedules into the system and prepare material budgets for the Quantity Surveyors
• Prepare cost reports and provide analysis of material costs for completion
The candidate
To be successful in this role you will need to have a minimum 2 years experience in a Buying role for a Building Contractor / Subcontractor or Housebuilder.
You will have a good understanding of procurements and the construction market and be able to inspire confidence in internal and external stakeholders.
You will be commercially aware and based in or be able to commute to the North West of England.
You’ll need to have good IT skills and a willingness to learn. You will be able to work alone and as part of a team.
