Utilities Engineer | Birmingham | Ongoing Contract - £300+ per day

Exciting long-term contract opportunity available to be a part of the HS2 Project! You will be joining an international consultancy based in Birmingham, and over the next 8 years there are an estimated £750m of Utilities protection/diversion works and £250m of temporary utility connections required to deliver the construction of the HS2 Programme.

You will be required to assist the Utilities Manager with the delivery of activities for the HS2 Project and to oversee the day to day management of the Utilities work processes.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Assist the Utilities Manager in developing delivery and assurance processes for the utilities works programme
  • Assist the development of a detailed project plan for the utilities work stream, which includes facilitating the identification of key milestones and activities
  • Attend regular meetings to monitor the progress of the project/s and work that needs to be completed
  • Assist in identifying, assessing and managing risk, making sure these risks are entered into the risk register and actively managed
  • Provide updates and progress reports to the Project Board and HS2 Executive and support procurement in delivering the contractor frameworks

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Graduate or equivalent HND, ideally in engineering or project management with strong utilities experience
  • Commercially orientated, with a proven track record of taking responsibility and leadership
  • Very organised and able to multi-task to meet strict deadlines
  • An understanding of project management techniques and some knowledge of their implementation in a commercial environment
  • Previous track record in the delivery side of professional services/construction/complex engineering projects
