My client is at the heart of a dynamic 'place shaping' agenda that brings Local Authorities, local communities, Central Government, and the Private Sector together to create safe, sustainable, flexible and dynamic public spaces geared to community social need, economic growth and personal well-being as well as being environmentally sustainable and as such we require a Traffic Engineer and Modeller to take a strategic role in where the project cannot continue without your skills.

Role Purpose

To provide traffic and transport modelling capabilities to the highways design team, ITS team and client teams. Support the traffic and transport modelling work with a strong engineering background and an understanding of the strategic ambitions of the customer and stakeholders. Support the customer and stakeholder teams to deliver transformational projects and modal shift agendas.

Experience with: Transport Statements, Transport Assessments and Travel Plans; Access strategy work, parking strategies, sustainable transport, S106 agreements, S278 agreements, DfT Transport Assessment guidelines, Manual for Streets; Setting up and running models in PICADY / ARCADYS / Visim / Aimsun / Linsig. The principles of micro-simulation and strategic models/modelling, WebTag and Transport business cases.

As a Traffic Engineer and Modeller, your main accountabilities will be as follows:

Project and Works

  • Develop project plans and schedules that meet specifications and requirements defined by the client and which meet business needs, timescales and objectives.

Project Management

  • Support the development and delivery of projects made up of a number of work packages, coordinate the activities of a number of engineers and other staff.

Quality & Standards

· Ensure that all designs and engineering work is carried out in compliance with industry, customer and business standards, conventions and quality/safety requirements and legislation.

  • Develop new solutions using all available tools to examine evidence and explore opportunities for innovative and sustainable solutions where appropriate.

Environmental, Health & Safety

  • Ensure that all contributions are fully carried out compliant with company health, safety and environmental requirements and policy. Ensure Health and Safety risks are designed out where possible and where not possible, these risks are minimised. Ensure complete and thorough communication of all risk at every stage of delivery.

Costs and Budgets

  • Manage costs associated with projects and works. Work within defined time and cost allowances.

Customer Relations

  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with the customers and clients; undertake technical discussions to establish requirements of client and ensure client briefs are fully under stood. Maintain deliverable schedules and ensure clients are regularly updated at all stages of the project.

Who we're looking for

The following personal qualifications and knowledge are required:

  • Require management skills and capability
  • Budget management, staff management etc. or suitable relevant experience.
  • APMP or PRINCE2 qualification preferred.
  • CIHT Transport Planning professional qualification.
