Town & Country Planner - Peterborough - Permanent Role - Water Industry - Salary Circa: £32,000 to £38,000 (Salary negotiable on experience)

Our client, a large Civil Engineering contractor who typically operate within the Water & Infrastructure sector, is currently looking for a Town & Country Planner to join their team on a permanent basis, in the Peterborough area. This role will include developing plans and programs for the use of land across the East Anglian region, with the creation/upgrade/maintenance of water assets in mind. All work will be completed on behalf of Anglian Water and will be part of the AMP6/AMP7 periods.

This position has come up due to company expansion, having generated additional revenue from new projects awarded, whilst becoming key delivery partners part of the AMP 6 Framework.

In this role, you will be part of a growing organisation/network that predominantly work within the Water Sector, delivering key projects for major water bodies. (This specific role will include working with Anglian Water and collaboratively working with all other contracts involved within this framework)

Daily duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Assessing risks through plans and programmes and providing input to strategic direction across programmes of work.
  • Pro-active engagement with delivery teams to optimise design to facilitate planning.
  • Prepare enabling/planning strategies in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Pro-active engagement with LPA, stakeholders, including parish and community group meetings to promote success of planning applications (as appropriate).
  • Consultation with legal section with regard to covenants, access and land purchase, including compulsory purchase.
  • Preparation of Reports to support Planning Applications and Screening Opinions.
  • Review of environmental reports required in support of planning applications.
  • Preparation and submission of all types of planning applications including minor, major and prior approval (telemetry, agriculture).
  • Negotiation with Local Authorities to enable least cost designs to be approved.
  • Negotiation of Permitted Development Rights.
  • Agreement of Planning Approval conditions.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to Town and Country Planner and Enabling Co-ordinators.

Candidates will ideally:

  • Have experience of working in a similar role, ideally within the Water/Wastewater sector.
  • Be proficient in IT, including the use of Microsoft Project, Excel, Office packages and will ideally have knowledge of using Primavera PE3 v.6.
  • Have an understanding and knowledge of NEC forms of contract.
  • Hold relevant qualifications, such as a degree in a relatable field.
