Salary: Maximum- GBP 75K/annum including 10% bonus

Availability: Immediate (can join us on or before 30th July)

Primary Job Purpose

Provide technical leadership and mentoring for the BAU teams. Lead the delivery & maintenance of infrastructure solutions across multiple technologies with the Run teams. Act as a trusted advisory to the customer and representative of HCL's leadership.

Primary Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership to the BAU teams and act as a point of escalation.
  • Review operational performance, identify technical improvement opportunities and prepare/implement implementation plans
  • Assist the run teams in preparing meaningful and thorough RCAs which will be presented to the customer.
  • Design new and complex solutions (encompassing various technologies) in collaboration with different Infra & Apps teams (as needed); hence an understanding of Enterprise Architecture would be beneficial.
  • Assist the track leads in reviewing and transitioning of new solutions from the projects team into the RTB/BAU teams.
  • Ownership of changes made to the infrastructure and representation of the Run team in the customer change review meetings.
  • Participation in various customer forums like Change review boards, Architectural forums, estate management forums, etc.
  • Provide training/knowledge transfer to support teams as necessary.


Competence / Knowledge / Skills required

  • Demonstrable ability to identify, analyse and solve problems in a logical and effective way, including root cause analysis and identification, data analysis interpretation and decision-making processes
  • In depth knowledge of IT architectures covering more than one of the following platforms: End user computing, Infrastructure, virtualization, storage, security, voice and data networks.
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate effectively at all levels, including oral, written, presentation and the ability to successfully influence others
    • Excellent verbal communication including clarifying scope, requirements and deliverables. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical personnel. Ability to present to management.
    • Excellent written communication skills including evidence of concise infrastructure design documentation.
    • Good stakeholder management skills. Able to effectively listen, communicate, challenge and influence team members, peer group, suppliers, and senior management.
    • Proven skills in dealing with suppliers (internal and external) including negotiation skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

The following minimum levels of experience must be considered when evaluating competency, knowledge & skills required:

Mandatory experience:

  • 8+ years in depth technical experience of windows server
  • 5+ years' experience in key infrastructure technologies like Microsoft Active directory, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, etc.
  • 5+ years technical experience of working in a virtualised environment
  • 5+ years technical experience of large IT infrastructures (more 5000 desktops/network end points)
  • At least 5 years' experience supporting enterprise technologies spanning one or more of the following technologies: End user computing, Intel servers, midrange, storage, security, voice and data networks.
  • More than 5 years' experience of working in a structured ITIL environment with a demonstrable understanding of standard roles and processes.
  • At least 2 years' experience of leading the design of significant infrastructure transformation projects involving multiple technical disciplines spanning at least 3 of the following disciplines: desktops, Intel servers, midrange, storage, security, voice and data networks.
