Job description

This is a great time to join my client who is an award-winning UK based technology company that is pioneering the design and manufacture of sono-electrochemical water treatment products and systems. They are at the forefront of this technology and growing as a result of their unique service offering.

There is a requirement at their Swansea facility for a permanent Stock & Purchasing Controller. This role requires someone with experience in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will join a positive work environment that encourages continuous improvement whilst working within a collaborative team for stock and purchasing decisions, liaising with the Delivery and Sales team to stay abreast of changing customer demand.

Duties of the position include:

Purchasing

  • Purchasing within an engineering environment
  • Relationship building with suppliers, reviewing and evaluating supplier performance and compliance
  • Negotiating prices and checking products are delivered on time and against specification
  • You will understand technical drawings
  • Managing and negotiating with new and current suppliers
  • Managing cost activity and cost comparison
  • Forecasting levels of demand for services and products to meet the business needs and keeping a constant check on stock levels;
  • Conducting research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, reliability, quality and delivery schedules;

Stock Control

  • Ensuring the processing and checking of supplier invoices, proof of delivery and purchase orders.
  • Continuously control and ensure appropriate stock levels of all items
  • Maintain accurate inventory records of all items
  • Allocate loading/offloading requirements as necessary
  • Provide monthly inventory reports to management
  • Action and report all stock issues: damages, discrepancies
  • Look for process improvements to ensure efficiency and accuracy

To be considered a suitable applicant for this role you will need the following:

  • Proven background and knowledge of stock management essential
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Good grasp of IT systems and Excel
  • Sage experience very beneficial
  • Ability to prioritise workload effectively
